124 - Chris Part One

Twas the eleventy-third of Jan

About thirty-five o-clock

The creature in the Marmite lake

Slowly slithered up the dock

Coloured bright invisible green

He measured about 8 foot 2

With limbs that were too many to count

He had three brains more than you

Using many sparkling eyes

He looked both up and down

And gathering his strength

He duly hovered into town

Many people saw him there

But this wasn't an unusual caper

This creature - call him Chris

Just wanted his daily paper

Salivating silver coins

He paid for the publication

And went out into the street

To read about the nation

The news wasn't all that great

Many aliens were on strike

This didn't occur to Chris as being

All that businesslike

He sighed and blew some bubbles

"Life should be enjoyed"

Alas for Chris this was quite hard

Since he was unemployed

Seeing no jobs in the paper

Chris's thoughts turned to sorrow

And so he headed off back home

He'd look again tomorrow
