086 - King

I went to see the Queen

They said she couldn’t be seen

Seems we’ve got a King instead

But he had gone to bed

So I sat outside all night

Until the first daylight

They still wouldn’t let me in

I made a frightful din

They said I had to leave

And that I’d been naive

To hang around and wait

To see the head of state

I made a formal protest

And ventured to suggest

That they should call him down

Maybe he would wear his crown?

They laughed at me and said

I was funny in the head

And if I didn’t go away

They’d really make me pay

At that point there was a voice

My heart it did rejoice

The King! Charles was here!

He’d decided to appear

“Are you the delivery man?”

I nodded and pointed to my van

“Then you’d better come on in”

I gave the guards a friendly grin

As we ventured up the stair

The King, he did declare

“I’m sorry for the hassle,

Of getting into this castle”

“No prob’ your Maj’…” said I

He smiled and winked his eye

“…but I feel you must be told,

This food has gone quite cold”

This is how my story ends

And how I became good friends

With King Charles - on the day

We shared cold pizza from a silver tray
